Considering the times of the depression up until now, what age in history do your believe society enjoyed more happily married couples? (Please comment the reason for the peroid you chose)

early 90s when economy was prosperous

50's& 60's
Better period of time

18th century because they values marriage more possibly

I think that from the 1920s to 1950s were probably fairly happy because all the rules were basically the same for everyone and everyone was working for the same thing and cared fairly consistently for the same things. Now all the rules are different for everyone and there is no consistency and we are reaping what has been sowed.

the 1950

I think around my Grandparents time period, they are in there 50+ aniversary currently.

1950's because they lived by the vows they made when they got married to begin with.

1800

unknown

Well, my grandparents were married for quite some time happily so I would have to guess in the 1920's-1960's.

40's 50's

I don't know.

Not sure society ever enjoyed happy marriages. My grandparents, though together until death were not happy

probably before the 'free love' generation. this opened up acceptance of multiple partners

1920's because all the older people i know marriages lasted forever.

There is no correlation between more broken marriages and less happy marriages. For example, there were less divorces in 1940 than in 2007, however, that does not mean that couples were happier in 1940, it just means that more couples may have struggled through an unhappy marriage because it was not socially acceptable to get a divorce. I think we, as married couples, tollerate much less in our relationships today than we did 50 years ago. We're not willing to work things out or live in an "imperfect" marriage like we may have 50 years ago, thus, more divorces.

In the thirty's

I really don't know

1940. I have heard my parents and grandparents talk about this time as well as a report I did. I think family values were held higher during this period.
