| Considering the times of the depression up until now, what age in history do your believe society enjoyed more happily married couples?
(Please comment the reason for the peroid you chose) |

I really don't know

1940. I have heard my parents and grandparents talk about this time as well as a report I did. I think family values were held higher during this period.

According to statistics, most married couples fight about money. If this is true, then probably the times that couples don't find themselves financially strapped would be the happiest....so it would seem. Other than that, I really couldn't say. Some folks are happy, some folks never are....even when they stay together.

i think until the age of 30-40 yrs, people enthe marriage

for me i believe the 1950, it seems things were more about family.

early 1980's.there weren't any divorce rates as high as their are today

I have no idea

In earlier times, people remained married whether they were HAPPY or not, whether they were faithful to each other or not; happiness has little or nothing to do with marriage up until RECENT MODERN TIMES.

that is impossible to answer because just taking the statisics of numbers will never tell you if they were happy or just staying married because that is what you did.

The 50's & 60's. Marriage was taken more seriously & respecpted.

30's

THE 40' AND 50'S THEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE WITH THE 60'S IT WAS A MUCH SIMPLER AND EASIER TIME.

I really don't have an exact answer, appeances would put the 40s or 50s as the "ideal" time. Abuse and neglect were there, just it was "swept under the rug" and not talked about as it is today.

between 1946 thru 1955, life was somewhat easier,
not as difficult, less materialistic. |

i think it was the 40's and the 50's

during and after ww II. then society started to become more 'liberal' in thinking in the late 60's. today society is paying for many of the liberal thinking ideas. we value movie stars instead of real heroes. atheletes and movies stars are paid big bucks - not teachers, social workers, safety workers. kids today think they are entitled to everything because their parents gave them so much -- in the name of 'love'. so they jump from job to job when they hear criticism regarding their work ethics.

The 1940's. Couples were not seeing the kind of things that young adults see now in the media. It's not as important to keep yourself true to your self or to your mate. It's "all about me", instead of all about others.

I believe today's society lives and enjoy life as a couple more then back in the depression time. Life back then, was tainted and covered up with greed, dishonesty, lies, deceit, adultry and incest. It's not a perfect world as it seems. Lust started way back and people were afraid to show it, except behind closed doors. It was a sin to love this or that person, you couldn't choose your own partner it was chosen for you, or that family was not good enough to marry. This is the life now that more people would prefer to live than back in history.

in the 70, there was know such things as divorce like they do now

the nineteenth centuary, because people were raised with morals and there were'nt that many women around especially in the West
